Barnes, pioneer resident of the Berlin community who died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday following a long illness, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Berlin Church of Christ. He was born March 14, 1881 in Grundy county, Missouri and was married January 15, 1902 to Alto Eagleston in Missouri. They came to western Oklahoma from Missouri in 1901 and they have lived in the area since that time. He was a farmer and rancher by occupation. Mr. Barnes was a long time member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alta Barnes of the home address; two daughters: Mrs. Helen Brookshire, and Mrs. Fern Viers, both of Sayre, Route 1; one son, Don Barnes of Sayre, Route 1; seven sisters, Mrs. Fred Alexander, Sayre, route 1, Mrs. Anna Miller, El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Opal Miller, Flagler, Colorado, Mrs. Grace Smith, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mrs. Estell Howell, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Anna Devenport, Albuquerque, New Mexico; one brother, Harold Barnes of Grimes. One infant daughter and two sisters preceded him in death. Officiating was Harold Knight of Allanreed, Texas and Tom Kent of Delhi. Burial was in the Berlin cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Scroggins Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
