Baty Gyp Creek ranch about three and a half miles east of Cheyenne. The coroner's jury that was summoned to investigate the hanging returned a verdict Monday afternoon to the effect that death had been caused by self-hanging. There was no evidence introduced before the coroners jury that would throw very much light in the rash act. However, it was generally known that Powell had been mooddy for several days, and had been drinking heavily, and especially the day and night before the tragedy. He was seen on he street real early Monday morning, only a few hours before the body was found by workmen who arrived at the Beaty ranch house that is being constructed on the Gyp creek ranch. Powel Beaty grew to manhood in this community, but he has not made this his home for many years, until a few months ago when he returned to this city. He lived several years in Arkansas before he returned to Cheyenne. He was a World War veteran. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs W.A. Beaty, pioneers in this city. He leaves to mourn a wife, a mother of this city, a sister, Mrs. Willie Martin of Odessa, Texas, and a brother, F.E. Beaty of California, and other relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Baptist church conducted by Rev. Lummus, local pastor.
