Blackwell was born March 16, 1952 and went to be with our Lord on May 29, 2011 at the age of 59. Judi was born in Shamrock, Texas and was raised in Tatum, New Mexico. She was a graduate of Tatum High School and also attended Lubbock Christian College. She married Jerry Blackwell on July 28, 1983 in Pampa, Texas. While living in Pampa for eight years, she owned and operated the Credit Bureau. They moved from Pampa to Amarillo in 1988. After moving to Amarillo, she worked for McCarty-Hull. She also worked with her husband in the printing business for many years. He passed away in 2007 and she retired the same year. Judie loved to read, spending time on her computer, painting, cooking out with friends as well as hosting dinners for her friends. She was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family. Most of all, Judy loved being "Grandma" and Naw Naw to her five grandchildren. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father J.D. Cook in 1978. Survivors include one daughter, Danielle Devenney and her husband Joey of Amarillo; one stepson, J.R. Blackwell and his wife Stacy of Alliance, Nebraska; her mother, Frances Clay and her husband Russell of Reydon, Oklahoma; one brother, Jerry Don Cook and his wife Linda of Trenton, Texas; one niece, Kimberly Crenshaw and husband, David Cook and his wife Angela of Mineral Wells, Texas. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe, Claire, Shyanne and Devin. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear officiating. Graveside services were held in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley by Cox Funeral Home. The family request memorials to Baptist-St.Anthony's hospice.
