She passed away April 12, 2010 at Altus, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 18 days. Audrey grew up in northern Roger Mills County and graduated from Crawford High School. She was married to Leroy Bowers at Cheyenne on September 3, 1949. They lived south of Cheyenne where they farmed for a short time. They moved to the Roll community and they continued to farm, raise livestock and Audrey tended her garden. After retiring in 1988, they moved to Cheyenne to make their home. Audrey and Leroy traveled extensively and made many friends. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and playing cards with them in the evenings. Her hobbies included fishing, crocheting and making quilts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Audrey had been a member of the Crawford Church of Christ for many years and was currently a member of the Cheyenne Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, and a sister, Elsie Lucille Matthews. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leroy Bowers, of the homer; 2 children, Robert Bowers and wife Dana, Altus, Oklahoma, Nena Kirk and husband, Ron, Yukon, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Crisman, Andy Bowers, Megan Bowers, Morgan Scallan, Abby Kirk and Austin Kirk; 5 great grandchildren, James Crisman, Ava Crisman, Fletcher Bowers, Jill Scallan and Emilee Scallan, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Cheyenne Church of Christ officiated by Ray Don Jackson. Burial followed at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
