Graveside services were held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 2 PM at the Cheyenne Cemetery at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Officiating the services was Rev. Neil Unwin. Arrangements were made under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Childress, Texas. Music was conducted by soloist Mary Waters, "The Old Rugged Cross". Ruthie Lou Plunkett Bradley was born on May 1, 1940 at Moyers, Oklahoma to Robert and Mary Platt Plunkett. Her family moved to Samnorwood, Texas, where she attended school and graduated in 1960. She married Billy Dean Bradley on April 20, 1971, at the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She accepted Christ into her life in 1992 and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne. She worked at the Cheyenne Convalescent Home for years as a Nurses' Aide and loved her job. She also assisted the Baptist Church nursery for years and was very dependable person. After retiring she and her husband enoyed life by playing card games and visiting with family and friends. After her husbands death in 2006, Ruthie remained in Cheyenne with her friends and family. The summer of 2009, she moved to Childress, Texas, due to sudden illness and be with her sister, Marilyn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bradley; 2 brothers, Ray Plunkett and Frank Plunkett, and 4 sisters, Julia Perry, Edith Walters, Rubie Selley and Opal Plunkett. She is survived by 2 sisters, Marilyn Jesse of Childress, Texas and Ethel Pankraz of Hydro, Oklahoma; 1 brother, James Plunkett of Dennison, Texas; 4 sisters-in-law, Gerry Bowers and Erma Barber of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Betty Laxton of Sayre, Oklahoma and Wanda Bradley of Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 brother-in-law, Jack Bradley of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
