Cope was born May 21, 1893 in Jadwin, Missouri and departed this life Friday, August 29th at Community Hospital in Elk City at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 8 days. He came to Okla. Territory in 1898 and homesteaded in the Foss and Weatherford areas. He worked several years for the Chickasha Milling Co. and the P.G. Newkirk Grain Co., then he worked some 40 years for the Kimbell Milling Co. He managed the grain elevators at Hammon, Moorwood, Herring and Woodward until his retirement in 1976. Mr. Cope was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hammon. He accepted Christ as a young man and lived an exemplary Christian life before his family and friends. Mr. Cope was married to Minnie Birdwell in 1914 and she preceded him in death in 1924. He was then married to Ada Taylor in 1927 and she preceded him in death in 1940. He married Aline Morgan on April 11, 1942, in Elk City and she survives him. Other survivors include 3 daughters, Fern Allen of Chickasha, Linda Dodson of Hammon, and Mary Ann Troncales of Houston, Texas; 2 sisters, Fanny Cope and Pearl Norton both of Weaterford; also 10 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. He was precded in death by his parents, Gentry and Mary Lucinda Cope, 2 brothers: Peirce and Clarence Cope and by one son Francis Cope. The funeral was held at the First Baptsit Church, Hammon.
