Alex came to this place at the opening and has remained here ever since. He was a bachelor having lived by himself most of the time and has no relatives in this part of the country. He has a sister who lived in the east but a number of telegrams of his death brought no reply. Alex Clapp was a native of New York State and showed by the manner that he had been well reared. He never forgot to be courteous and gentlemanly to ladies. Alex was a painter by trade and has worked at that line for many years in this city. While he never laid up any of this worlds goods, he seemed to believe in letting each day take care of itself. In the early days he received a large amont of money from the estate of his father which he spent lavishly. Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic church Thursday morning by the Priest of Elk City, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
