All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Cofer, Hill, Lee, Mabra, McGuire, Hammitt, Stead, Grissom Gus Cofer passed away at his farm home near Strong City on January 17, 1954 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 12 days. He was born at Tom Green, Texas on June 4, 1892. He came to this county at the age of 7 and spent his early life on a homestead with his parents near Strong City. Gus was converted and joined the Baptist church in Strong City at an early age. He was united in marriage to Nellie Hill in 1916 at Strong City. To this union 4 children were born. Glen Cofer preceded his father in death in 1931. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of Strong City, two daughters, Mrs. Otis Lee of Cheyenne and Mrs. Carl Mabra of Stephenville, Newfoundland, one son, Orval Cofer of Oklahoma City, six grandchildren, one brother, Jim Cofer, Strong City and five sisters, Della Cooper, Dallas, Texas; Frances McGuire, Oklahoma City; Minnie Hammitt, Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, May Cyphers, Stead, New Mexico; Nannie Grissom, Elk City, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. Gus was a wonderful husband and father and lived a very useful life. There is great satisfaction in knowing that, One who knows best all things, directs the destinies of men. Burial Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
