Cooper, 82, died Jan. 29, 1996, in the Elk City Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996 at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church with Andy Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne, Roger MIlls County, OK Mr. Cooper, the son of Lula Frances and George Richard Cooper, was born on July 27, 1913, in Strong City. He moved to a farm north of Cheyenne with his parents and attended school there. After school, he continued to live and make his home in Cheyenne, where he worked for the state highway department until his retirement in the early 1970s. He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard, and one sister, Viola Elwood. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Donna Cooper of Edmond; four sisters, Iva Minor of Cheyenne, Ruth White of Perry, Okla., Dorothy Tucker of Kingifsher, Okla., and Sara Elwood of Calhoun, KY; two grandsons, Kyle Cooper and Ty Cooper, both of Edmond; and several other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
