Mr. Cooper had been in poor helath for several years and his death was no surprise to his family and friends who best knew his condition. Mr. Cooper had been a resident of this county about fifteen years and in that time he had won the high esteem and friendship of all who had the pleasure to form his acquaintance. He was a man who commanded the love and respect of all who knew him. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Odd Fellows and the Royal Arch Chapter of this city and was a true and faithful member, he was a regular attendant until a few years ago when he became paralyzed in the lower limbs. He leaves a wife and three small children to mourn his death. At all times, under all circumstances he walked in the well-beatened path of righteousness and when fully conscious he was nearing the last of earth, he appeared to be fully impressed with the idea that at the end of time, eternity began, and that the bright faith which sustained him during those trying hours of suffering would only grow brighter and brighter as he journeyed toward the Infinite, and that the final gloom of death he dispelled by the radiance of God's love. Could all live the just and upright life J.D. Cooper lived, and die in his trusting faith, death could no longer be called "The King of Terrors." The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon. The Masonic lodge conducted the burial ceremony. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
