She passed away on Monday, Februaary 1, 1988 at the Mangum City Hospital at the age of 93. On December 7, 1913 Mittie Opal and James Marion Casey were united in marriage in Wheeler, Texas. In 1931 they came to Harmon County and lived there until moving to Vincent in 1940. Later in 1965 they moved to Mangum and remained there until the time of her death. Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Marion on January 2, 1977. Survivors include 2 daughters, Jimmie Paxton, Mangum, Oklahoma, Virginia Kirkpatrick, Oklahoma City, 2 sons, Leadell Casey, Ponca City, and Whitfield Casey, Ponca City, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Casey enjoyed quilting and was very proud of the fact that in 1985 she was chosen Nursing Home Queen and went to Oklahoma City to compete in the finals. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, February 2, 1988 at 3:00 p.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Monks and Rev. Tom Spence, Russell Baptist Church officiating.
