Cox living one mile west of Hammon, was killed at New Wilson, Oklahoma, ast Saturday, February 10, 1917 while assisting his brother in sawing a large tree. It fell crushing him to the ground killing him instantly. His body was sent to Hammon for burial, the W.O.W. lodge being in charge. Curtis Cox was born November 9, 1896 and was a veteran of World War I. A large crowd attended the funeral services at Hammon, on Sunday afternoon, at the Methodist Church South, where Rev. Depew preached the sermon and apoke in high tribute of the young man. The deceased was 20 years of age and had lived near Hammon for three years.
