He was married December 25, 1891 to Cora M. Carter in Boone County, Indiana. They moved to Tennessee in 1897 and from there moved to Oklahoma in February, 1910. Nine children were born to this union. One daughter died in infancy and one daughter, Eleanor died at the age of 18 years. Mrs. Cox and seven children survive. The children are: Mrs. Zella Gamble of Reydon, Mayo Cox and Nellie Jurgensen of Grimes, Raleigh of Littlefield, Texas, Mrs. Viola Repass and Mrs. Willie Bales also of Littlefield, Sgt. Carter Cox, who is with the U.S. Army somewhere in England. All were with him when he passed away except Carter. Mr. Cox also leaves to mourn his going 16 grandhildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Cox passed away at his home at Grimes February 23, 1943, making his stay on earth 75 years, 3 months and 16 days. He never joined any church but was a firm believer in Salvation by Grace as preached by the Primitive Baptist. Dad spoke so many times saying that everything was straightened out and the way was clear. "Praise the Lord; I am ready and willing to go," he said. He also said "Why weep when the wear ones go?"
