All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Cockrell, Sadler Those who knew Dale Cockrell, Cheyenne Highschool Principle, were deeply saddened at his sudden death on Tuesday, August 4, 1981. Services were held on Friday, August 7, 1981 at 2:30 p.m. in the Cheyenne High School Gymasium with burial in the Silent Home Cemetery near Roll, Roger Mills County, Okla. under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Rev. Aubrey Cowan, Cheyenne and Rev. Lloyd Martin of Crawford officiated. Mrs. June Kendall gave the Eulogy. The Cheyenne High School Chorus sang accompanied by Mrs. Lorena Males. Pallbearers were Donovan Wesner, Charlie Metscher, Glen Kendall, Bill Moler, Verland Brewster and Bruce Barber. Honorary pallbeaers were the Cheyenne Faculty and School Board. Dale was born March 24, 1931 to Tim and Helen Sadler Cockrell at Durham, Okla. He graduated from Durham High School and attended Panhandle State University at Goodwell, Okla. where he graduated with a B.S. Degree. Dale attended S.W.O.S.U. in Weatherford, Okla. and O.U. in Norman, Okla. Dale served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. Mr. Cockrell started his teaching career at Crawford, Okla. where he taught for three years. He also cocached basketball at Crawford. In 1959, he came to the Cheyenne school system and spent the last 22 years at Cheyenne in teaching business courses, coaching and as an administrator. Dale became the high school Principal in the fall of 1970. Dale enjoyed farming anf ranching in his spare time. He was a member of The Church of Christ in Cheyenne. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Helen Cockrell and one older borther, Roy Eugene. Survivors include 3 brothers, and 2 sisters, Leo Cockrell, Florrissant, Mo.; Melba Darrow, Amarillo, Tex.; Donald Cockrell, Durham, Okla.; Glen Cockrell, Durham, Okla.; and Wanda Estes, Mobeetie, Tex. and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
