Ben Cole, 62, who died in a local hospital Tuesday were conducted in the Hammon high school auditorium at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Wilbur B. Mease, the Methodist minister of Hammon, officiating, assisted by Rev W. D. Montgomery, Carter, and Rev. James Sanders of Custer City. Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Cole was born July 31, 1906, in Elk City. He was a life long resident of Hammon, residing on a farm for some five years before entering the grocery business. In 1965 a dairy supply business was added and his son, Bedn H. Cole, became associated with him. He was one of very few merchants who learned to speak the native Indian language. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Lions Club and the Roger Mills county Election Boards, and a former member of thed Masonic lodge. He was married to the former Maud C. Townsend at Hammon on July 4, 1928. She survives him. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Doris (Madilene) Lamb, Hammon; 2 sons, Willard "Bill" Cole, Edmond, and Ben H. Cole, Hammon; his mother, Mrs. Jessie M. Bryant, Oklahoma City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mae Trent, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Velma Lynn, of Wichita Falls, Texas; 1 brother, Alva Cole, Nowata, and 7 grandchildren. Martin Funeral homed was in charge of arrangmements.
