The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Ranson Lewis Clem, son of Lewis E. and Maggie Taylor Clem, was born September 11, 1908 at Hutchinson, Kansas and departed this life on January 14, 1988 at the Elk City Communiy Hospital at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 3 days. R.L. was preceded in death by his father, Lewis in 1908; a sister, Beatrice in 1927; his mother, Maggie in 1956 and a sister Elma, in 1973. R.L. received the nickname "Buster' at an early age and went by this nickname the rest of his life. After the death of Buster's father, he assumed the role of being the man of the family at a very early age. Along with his mother Maggie, he farmed and raised cattle and provided a home for his family. He attended school at Teepee Creek, Riverview and was in high school at Camargo at the time of the death of his sister, Beatrice in 1927. Buster elected to leave school to work full time in caring for his mother. Mary Ellen Turner and R.L. Clem were united in marriage on April 16, 1938 at Clinton, Oklahoma and made their home southeast of Camargo in the Riverview Community. Mary Ellen and Buster had two sons; Lewis and Robert, both of Camargo. This April 16 would have been their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In 1963, Buster started helping Robert in the oil field as a guager and pumper. He continued this work until retiring in early 1987 but remained very active with is horses, cattle and chores up until his death. R.L. was active in the quarter horse business and enjoyed the cutting horse contests and the halter competition, watching the boys and the grandchildren participate with their horses. Buster loved the outdoors and the close association he had with his two sons in working cattle, fixing fence, harvesting wheat and putting up hay. His interest in young people was manifested by his support of education and in helpin start a Boy Scout troop in the late 50's. With the death of his sister, Elma in 1973, Buster was the last member of the Lewis B. Clem family. He was a thoughtful neighbor, a loving and caring husband and father; he was a grandfather who was so fond of seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen; son, Lewis and wife, Sandra; son, Robert and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Cherri, Ryan, Bryan, Kelly, Matt and Nicole; great grandchildren, Ty and Shane. Funeral services were held for R.L. "Buster" Clem on Saturday January 16, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of Camargo, Oklahoma with Denis Dicker, Chester Johnson and Allen Mabra officiating. Casket bearers were: Bryan Clem, Kelly Clem, Matt Clem, Ryan Clem, Bill Salisbury and lindsey Sallisbury. Honorary Bearers: Henry Cunningham, E.C . Fairchild, Leo Farris, John Holley, Ronald Hubbard, J.C. Moore, Alex Robinson and John Snider. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Vici, Oklahoma under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home.
