All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Clem, Laws, Nofsker, Newton, Craig, Warren, Harden, Lovelace, Parks, Howard Phillip Nofsker Clem was born on June 8, 1904, in Day County, Indian Territory to William Arthur and Rachel Nofsker Clem. at the age of 2 years, he moved to Putnam, OK with his family, where he started to school at Prairie Bell, West of Putnam. In 1912, the family moved back to the Shirley Community. Phillip attended school at Shirley and Liberty Center. On Jullly 17, 1935, he was united in marriage to Maggie Ellis Laws. They lived in Sayre, Okla. until 1935. To this union three children were born. He was a loving and devoted father and husband. Phillip will always be remembered for his friendly smile and warm personality. In 1935, Phillip and Maggie began their lifelong occupation of ffarming and ranching. They lived around Leedey form 1935 to 1944. From 1944 to 1969 they farmed in the Camargo vicinity. He was continually busy with farm organizations that would bring about improvements in the farming and livestock industry. In 1969 Phillip retired and moved to Leedey, where he lived at the time of his passing, on August 6, 1977, at the age of 73 years and 2 months. During Phillip's retirement years, his home, friends and family were a source of great pleasure. Phillip endeared children to him be actively involving them in all kinds of recreational pursuits. Many hours were spent playing gamres of all kinds with acquaintances. Phillip joined the Baptist Church in 1933 and was presently active in his church, having held several different positions during his lifetime. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Bertha Newton and Bessie Craig; 2 brothers, Remus and Glen; and 1 granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Maggie of the home; and three daughters, Romona Warren, of Oklahomc City; Jane Harden and June Lovelace of Hammon; 3 brothers, Clyde of Caufield, MO; Claud of Clinton and Lee of Leedey; 2 sisters Oka Parks of Camargo; Norman Howard of Montrose, Co; 6 grandchildren, 16 nieces and 14 nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Phillip Clem were held Tuesday, August 9, 1977 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist church of Leedey. Officiating minister was Ron Argo. Casket bearers were: Hugh Hogg, James Hunt, Clyde McLean, Dorsey Nichols, Oscar Ommen, and Allen Wherritt. Interment followed in the Shirley Cemetery northwest of Leedey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
