Obit for Evie Loraine Cowan

Evie Loraine Cowan, age 90 of Cordell, and former Altus resident, died
Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home in Corn.

She was born October 21, 1911 in Wheeling, Arkansas to Thomas Pink and
Josie Bell Wise Gammill.  She married Burl Truitt Cowan August 31, 1929 in
Mangum, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death in 1980.  She was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Cordell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Burl;
three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Stookenberry and husband,
Richard, of Livingston, Texas and jo Haney and husband, Charles, of
Cleveland, Tennessee; one son, Aubrey Cowan and wife, Nancy of Weatherford,
Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, October 25, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church in Cordell.  Burial was held in the Altus Restlawn Cemetery
under the direction of the Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolfe.
