All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Champlin, Curlin, Scott George Nathan Champlin was born in Batchtown, Calhoun County, Illinois February 11, 1861 and dparted this life January 23, 1956, at 10:45 a.m. in the Shattuck Hospital at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 12 days. At the age of sixteen he moved with his mother from Illinois to Kaufman County, Texas. In 1897 he was united in marriage with Lillie Curlin. To this union three children were born, one son and two daughters. In 1900 he moved with his wife and son to Lawton, Oklahoma, making his home in Tillman County until 1924 when he moved with his family to Strong City where he had since resided. He was converted and became a member of the Strong City Baptist church, of which he remained a devoted member. In 1938 his wife preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, T.C. Champlin of Dinuba, California, two daughters, Mr. Claude Scott and Morine Champlin, both of Strong City, one daughter-in-law, Myrtle Champlin, one son-in-law, Claude Scott, other relatives and a host of friends. Relatives attending services from a distance were a nephew, Earl Champlin, and his wife, Grace, from Alton, Illinois. His love and devotion for his family will long be remembered. Funeral services were conducted in the Strong City Baptist church with Rev. James Wilkerson, Cheyene, Rev. Fred Bloomer and Rev. Asa Wickens, Strong City, officiating. Burial was in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
