All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Champlin, Scott Funeral services for Miss Morine Champlin will be held at the Baptist church in Strong City Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. J.F. Wilkerson officiating. Committal will be in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Miss Champlin passed away at her home near Strong City Tuesday evening at 7:50 after an illness of six weeks. She had been a teacher in the Cheyenne high school for the past nine years and met her classes until six weeks ago when she became critically ill. At the time of her passing she was sponsor of the Freshman class. Morine Champlin was born near Lawton, Oklahoma on May 24, 1907. She graduated from the Strong City high school and later attended Southwestern College at Weatherford and Teachers College at Boulder, Colorado. She had engaged in the teaching profession for twenty-seven years. Miss Champlin was president of the Delta Kappa Gamma of Beckham and Roger Mills at the time of her passing, a position she had held for two years. Survivors include, one sister, Mrs. Claude Scott of Strong City, and a brother, T.C. Champlin of Dinuba, California. Miss Champlin cared for her father, who resided with her, until his passing, in January of this year. The body will lie in state at Scroggins Funeral Home in Sayre until Friday.
