All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Campbell, Cooper, Glaseman, Green, Green, Berg John Henry Campbell, son of J.W. and Ida Campbell, was born May 19, 1908 near Leedey and passed from this life March 23, 1976 at his home in Leedey. He was 67 years, 10 months and 4 days of age. John spent all of his early life in the Red Star Community, attending school there. On August 5, 1930 he was united in marriage to Velma Cooper at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. To this most happy union 1 daughter Johnnie Faye was born. John and Velma established their first home in the Three Corners community, later moving to a farm in the Red Star community. John remained active in his farming operation until 1951 at which time he and Velma moved to Leedey and established a laundry which they operated or 18 years. John was also the Mistletoe express agent for Leedey and had the Speed Queen dealership. His pastime was spent working on washing machines and he was so proud that he hadn't found one he couldn't repair. John accepted Christ in 1935, was baptized and joned the membership of the Nazarene church at Three Corners. He later transfered his membership to the Leedey Methodist Church of which he became ver dedicated to this chirch and especially the Fidelis Sunday School class. The love and frienship john showed to veryone no matter who they might be was outstanding. No matter what the problem might be John would always try to help in any way he could. His death grieves all our hearts but is Heaven's gain. Preceding John in death were his parents J.N. and Ida Campbell. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his beloved wife Velam of the home, his daughter and son-in-law Johnnie Faye and Edward Glaseman of Leedey, 1 grandson Lyndon of Pampa, Texas, 1 granddaughter and her husband Diane and Warren Green of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, 2 great grandchildren, Scott Allen and Trista Ann Green, 1 sister Agnes Green of Leedey, 1 brother and his wife Marvin and Opal Campbell of Oklahoma City, 1 nephew Jerry Campbell and family of Oklahoma City, 1 niece Janath Berg and family of Wyoming, Iowa other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services for John Campbell were held Thursday, March 25, 1976 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Leedey. Officiating ministers were Jim Ellis and clyde Denny. Casket bearers were Bud Switzer, Delbert Meyer, Marvin Quattlebaum, Lowell Rounds, Willie Basler, and Smokey Kauk. Interment followed in the Red Star Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
