Chandler Amos C. Chandler of Midwest City passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2000. He was born on April 8, 1911 in Rankin, Oklahoma to John and Lucy Beaty Chandler. He had lived in Strong City and Cheyenne years ago. Amos was a member of Country Estates Baptist Church and a retired deacon. He was employed at Tinker for many years and retired from a long Civil Service career. He was part of the original group that trained in San Antonio for the opening of Tinker Air Force Base. He worked in the Inspector General's office as an Air Inspector and then spent four years heading the Inspector General's office in Topeka, Kansas. After returning to the Inspector General's office at Tinker for several years, he worked for a short time in the Supploy Directorate's Hi-Value Office. In 1959 he transferred to DMM as a Logistics Specialist on V.I.P. aircraft. He participated in the "shakedown" inspection on Air Force One in 1962 and retired from Tinker in 1972. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and had just recently finished bowling participation. His greatest achievement was bieng a good daddy to his children. "We love your for this, daddy. You were always there for us, supporting us in all that we attempted and always there for us whether we succeeded or failed. The Bible says we are to honor our parents and take care of them in their old age. This we have done and are grateful to have had the joy of doing. Now we release you, Daaddy, to our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven." He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Emtessie Lofton Chandler; his parents; two brothers, J.M. Chandler, Jr. and Leland Chandler; and two sisters, Mattie Cordell and Dorothy Colibert. Amos is survived by a son, Bob and wife Linda of Midland, Texas; three daughters, Doris Kremer, Norma and husband Carl Slavick, and Jerri Bledsoe, two brothers, Robert Chandler of Wichita, Kansas and Winston Chandler of Norman, Oklahoma; one sister Lorene Chandler Park of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Barnes and Johnson Funeral home with interment at Arlington Cemetery. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
