He passed away October 30, 2004 in his home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 16 days. Herb attended school at Postoak, Texas, and graduated from Crawford High School in 1944. Herb attended OCU until he was drafted into the service in 1945 and was honorably discharged December 25, 1946, having served in Japan with the Service Postal Department in the U.S. Army. He was married to Laveda Mae Parman at Wheeler, Texas on August 28, 1949. In 1952 they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where Herb accepted a possition with the City National Bank where he was cashier for 6 years. In 1966 he moved to Stgler, Oklahoma, where he worked as Vice President and cashier for the First National Bank. In 1966 Herb moved to Beaver, Oklahoma, where he worked for the First National Bank as Vice President until moving to Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1973 where he and Laveda purchased! The Cannon Insurance Company and later ran the Green Light Automotive until his health failed and he retired in 1983. Herb was always an active member of the community in which he lived. He participated in the Chamber of Commerce and has served as President several times. Herb had been a member of Rotary and was currently in the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club where he had had served as President. He was past Worshipful Master of Cheyenne Masonic Lodge #133m a Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Thirty Second Degree Mason. He was a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church where he had served in every position including treasurer and chairman of the church board. He and Laveda also had been sponsors for the MYF. Herb and Laveda loved to travel with the Wally Byman Travel Club. Herb was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Survivors include his wife Laveda of the home; two sisters Jessie Flori, Austin, Texas, Jeffie Vodernark, Lopoc, California; and a host of Sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held November 3, 2004 ar 2:090 p.m. at Cheyenne United Methodist church officiated by Rob Harris and Cuck Horton. Burial will be at Dempsey Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne.
