He was buried there but will be removed later to Cheyenne Cemetery. The following is a letter received from the Secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association where he had roomed since June. Miami, Arizona October, 23, 1918 Dear Mrs. Cunningham, Am enclosing herewith some mail which I received this morning for Joe. He has no belongings here but has a suit case at the hospital which I will forward to you by express just as soon as I can get it. Was suprised when I called the hospital and found that he was dead. He lived in our building and after a few days in bed he got up and was able to be out, but he had a relapse and was taken to the company hospital. We have a number of cases in our building but he has been the only one to die. You have our deepest sympathy in your hour of grief. I have telegrams every day from parents asking about their boys and I had to send more than one sad telegraqm.
