Goodwin of Seminole, Texas, Sunday. Young Cummings met his death last Friday, February 1, 1946 when a plane in which he was riding caught fire after crashing. Cummings was in company with James Black, about 17, who had taken a Piper Cub plane up from the Me-Tex Flying School at Hobbs, New Mexico. He had flown it to Seminole and Cummings had gone up with him. According to witnesses of the tragedy the pilot buzzed a car several times and then came in too low and banked to turn when the nose shot straight down and the plane crased then caught fire. Cummings was burned beyond recognition. J.A. Goodwin is a son of Mrs. Laura Goodwin and a brother of Bob Goodwin, both of Durham.
