All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Conner, Breedon, Tipton, Albright, Stagner, Pauley, Cummings, Layton Maud Ethel Conner, duaghter of James and Mary Jane Breedon was born March 26, 1882 at Taney County, Missouri and passed from this life February 16, 1975 at the Tower Estates Nursing Home, Sayre, Oklahoma. Mrs. Conner was 92 years, 10 months and 20 days of age. Mrs. Conner grew to womanhood and attended school at Tanney County, Missouri. On March 7, 1897 she was united in marriage to James Monroe Conner at Forsythe, Missouri. To this most happy union 5 chilldren were born, Trellis, Pete, Vernie, Sam, and Nora. The young couple established their first home at Branson, Missouri but in 1908 they moved to Roger Mills County, Oklahoma settling on a homestead in the Three Corners Community. The family then moved to Leedey in 1919 making this their permanent home. In 1973 Mrs. Conner entered the Nursing Home at Sayre and resided there until her death. Mrs. Conner was a devoted mother and housewife and was known for her good humor and optimistic way of life. She was a member of the Rebecca lodge and Eastern Star, always taking an active rolls in their various projects. In 1912 Mrs. Conner gave her heart to God, was baptized and became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Leedey. She took great joy in church activities and witnessing for the Lord. With her passing we feel great loss but heaven has gained. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her parents, a son Pete Conner, and beloved husband James in 1933. Those left to cherish her memory include 3 daughters, Mrs. Trellis Tipton of Enid, Oklahoma, Mrs. Vernie Albright of Redondo Beach, California, Mrs. Nora Stagner of Bentura, California, 1 son Sam Conner of Seal Beach, California; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lou Pauley of Arkansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Virginia Cummings of Rio Grande, Texas, Mrs. Caroline Layton of Grand Canyon, Arizona, 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and a host of friends. Services for Maud Conner were held February 18, 1975, at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Leedey. Officiating minister was James Ellis. Interment followed in the Red Star Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.. Arrangements by the Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.
