McColgin and passed away in her home at Reydon, Roger Mills County, Ok Thursday, December 9, 1993, at the age of 97 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Mrs. Conrad came to Oklahoma with her family in the 1901 Run, moving to Rankin, Roger Mills County, in 1903. She graduated from Earlville, Illinois High School as ther was no high school at Rankin. She attended Normal School in Cheyenne and taught at Skip-Out in Roger Mills County. Hope was married May 19, 1918 to the late Orville G. Conrad, and had three children,, all of whom survive: Bryce and Louise Conrad, Elk City, OK; Imogene and Paul Harris, Springfield, OH; and June Conrad, Lawton and Reydon, OK. The Conrads were owners of the Home Supply Co. general store at Rankin and Reydon, OK for about 25 years. She worked as a Career Postal Clerk for 15 years and as Postmaster until her retirement in 1966. Hope was a reporter for the Cheyenne Star for about 50 years. She has always been active in the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Reydon and held many offices locally and district-wide. She was one of the first member of the Boys and Girls Club (now 4-H) and was a charter member of the Extension Homemakers, actively involved in local and county affairs and held many offices. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Retire Postmaster Association and Nation Assn. of Retired Federal Employees, a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge and a member for 52 years. She was Past Matron and life member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Past Matron's Club of Elk City. Also a member of Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) and GFWC-Lawton Women's Forum of Lawton. Mrs. Conrad was inducted into the Western Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1976 and assisted with the history book, "Prairie Fire." Her life has been devoted to her family, church, school, community, and she always had an encouraging word for everone. She is survived by her children, grandchildren; Suzanne and Jim Zonca, Rogue River, OR; Barbara and Michael Faust and Danny Harris, Springfield, OH; and Philip and Jeanne Harris, Reston, VA; great grandchildren Kristin, Brian, Aaron, Jonathan and Carmer Faust, Springfield, OH; Arelle and Camden James Zonca, Rogue Riber, OR; and Revor Harris, Warren Grove, NJ; three sisters, Mary and Leonard Burns, Reydon, OK; Ruth Wall, Oklahoma City, OK and Octavia and Homer DeBerry, Tempe, AZ; one brother, Franklin H. and Betty Lou McColgin, Watertown, CT; and two sisters in law, Dorothy McColgin, Edmond, OK and Eva Conra, Norman, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Willis, Sterling, Wayne, and Quentin McColgin, and grandson, Tommy Harris. Funeral services were held Monday, December 13, 1993 at 2 p.m. at the Reydon Community Building officiating by Rev. Jay Tatum assisted by Rev. Roy C. Rowlan.
