All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Conrad, McCollgin, Harris, Hines, Finch, Goehring, Burner Orville Grover Conrad was born March 20, 1886, in Neoga, Illinois, and passed away April 7, 1966, at the age of 80 years. He was married to Hope McColgin May 19, 1918. To this union three children were born. Mr. Conrad was a long-time active, member of the Methodist Church where he served in all phases of the church and was Adult Bible Class teacher for years and a member of the Choir. He was one of the original builders of the First Rankin Church and was a pioneer of Western Oklahoma and Roger Mills County. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Conrad and family of 10 children moved from Robinson, Illinois to Rankin in 1905. Mr. Conrad was a farmer, early teacher, and Rural Carrier. He was a World War I veteran and a general merchant for over 25 years until he became Postmaster in 1942 and retired in 1956. He was active in all Community organizations, serving on the School Board, County Selective Service Board, a member of the Modern Woodman, I.O.O.F., Masonic lodges, Scottish Rite and York Rite; also the Rebekah and Eastern Star. He leaves to mourn his wife at home, a son, Bryce T. Conrad of Chula Vista, California, two daughers, Imogene, Mrs. Paul M. Harris of Springfield, Ohio, and Miss June N. Conrad of Elk City and four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Hines and Mrs. Rosie Finch both of Merced,Califonrnia, and Mrs. Orphia Goehgring of Wichita, Kansas; three borhers, Dr. U.E. Conrad, Fort Worth, Texas, Virgil D. Conrad of Reydon, and John W. Conrad of Midwest City, OK; and aunt, Miss Myrtle Burner of Lawrenceville, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other raltiexs Funeral services were held Sunday, Aril 10, 1966 at 2:30 p.m. at the Community Building with Dr. Charles Simpson of Oklahoma City presiding, Rev. L.D. Thomas, Jr. of Elk City who delivered the message, and Rev. F.B. Keith, assisting.
