Conard, Cheyenne, who died of a heart attack Tuesday, June 3, 1947 at 10:00 a.m. have been set Thursday, June 5, 1947 at the Cheyenne Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. R.O. Stewart officiating. Mr. Conrad was born March 4, 1892, at Neoga, Ill. He came to Cheyenne in 1905 from Illinois and has made his home there since that time. He was married to Viola Collins at Cheyenne Jully 3, 1926. A long-time member of the Methodist church, he was also a member of the Masonic Order. Mr. Conrad was deputy in the county treasurers office and a former county attorney and post master of Cheyenne. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Viola Conrad, and two sons, Charles R. and Ross of Cheyenne, six brothers, Orville and Virgil of Reydon, John of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Chester of Victoria, Ill., Dr. U.E. of Fort Worth, Texas, James O. of waco, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Hines of Oakland, California, Mrs. Rosa French of San Louis Obispo, Cal., Mrs. Orpha Goehring of Dallas, Texas. Committal will be in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The Cheyenne Masonic Order will be in charge of services at the graveside. ========== Ross Onley Conrad was born March 4, 1892 at Neoga, Cumberland County, Illinois and passed away at 10 a.m.. June 3, 1947; age 55 years and three months. He was the son of John Wesley and Ida Ideal Conrad, the sixth child of eleven children. A sister preceded him in death in infancy, and his mother February 14, 1930. His father passed away July 15, 1913. He moved with his parents to Rankin, now Reydon, Oklahoma in November, 1905, where he resided until he moved to Cheyenne in 1920. He volunteered in World War I in 1917 and was stationed at Jacksonville, Florida, until he was sent home on account of his health after a month's service. He was married to Miss Viola Estelle Collins of Cheyenne, July 3, 1926. To this union two sons were born, Charles Ray and Ross Junior of the home address. He was converted and joined the Methodist church in early life and remained a faithful member to his death. He finished grade school at Rankin graduating with the first county graduation class in 1910. He graduated from Elk City high school as valedictorian and received his law degree at Norman from the University of Oklahoma, then opened a law office in Cheyenne in 1920. He was County Judge of Roger Mills County for 3 1/2 years and Deputy County Treasurer for almost five years. He served as postmaster for five years, and was active as Boy Scout Master, in the Masonic Lodge and Civic organizations. He leaves to mourn, his wife and two sons, three sisters: Mrs. Daisy Hines, Oakland, California, Mrs. Rosie Finch, Paso Robles, California, and Mrs. Orpha Goehring, Dallas, Texas. Six brothers: Chester H., Victoria, Illinois; Dr. U.E., Fort Worth, Texas; James O., Waco, Texas; John W. Midwest City, OK; Orville G. and Virgil D. of Reydon, OK and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 5, 1947 at the Methodist church in Cheyenne with Rev. R.O. Stewart delivering the sermong. Interment was in the Cheyenne cemtery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Masonic Lodge in charge of the services at the grave.
