She passed away peacefully on October 2, 2003 at Epworth Villa Restirement Center in Oklahoma City. Tonnie graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1931. She attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1935 and her Master of Science Degree in 1942. She then taught school in Cheyenne, Drumright and Ponca City. While teaching in Ponca City, Tonnie met John Crawford and they were married on April 6, 1956 at the Tracy family home near Cheyenne. After their marriage, she became mother to John's children: John, Jr., Ann and Jim. Following Ann's death, Tonnie devoted full time to rearing their granddaughter Debbie Southard. She loved children and was always a teacher. Tonnie was a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church almost fifty years and was also active with her husband in the First Christian Church of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Tonnie anfd John loved to travel and enjoyed many trips, together all over the world; nonetheless western Oklahoma always remained a special place to Tonnie. Family was of utmost importance to Tonnie and her love and support for each family member was always evident. In February of this year, she moved from Ponca City, where she had lived for more than fifty years, to Epworth Villa Retirement Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death, by her husband, John M. Crawford in 2000. Also preceding her were her parents, a stepdaughter, Ann Southard, and two brorthers, Dr. Gilbert Tracy and Glen Tracy. Survivors are a brother Collier Tracy of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Becki Seay of Cheyenne, Okllahoma; two stepsons, John Jr. and his wife Mary Ann Crawford of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Jim and his wife Venna Crawford of New Braunfelds, Texas. Survivors also include a granddaughter Debbie and her husband Kip Walston of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Her nieces and nephews were like her children and include Virginia and husband Ed Holland of Houston, Texas; Betty and husbandx Robertt Brotherton of Orinda, California; Hellen Tracy of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Kenneth Tracy and wife Peggy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chester Tracy and wife Pat of Maysville, Oklahoma; Dale Tracy and wife Judy of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Also surviving her were five other grandchildren, Mark, Beverly, Clark, Jan and Lynn; great grandchildren, Alisha, Marc, Katie, Bill, Carol, Ben, Martin, Samuel, John Allen, Alex, Victoria, Fran, Jennifer, Cameron, Regan, Jonathon and Casey, plus many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dean McGee Eye Institute, Cheyenne Education Foundation or a charity of your choice. Interment at Cheyenne Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma was held Saturday, October 4, 2003 att 3:00 p.m. with Don Harrold officiating under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne. Memorial Services were held on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul Methodist Church, Ponca City, Oklahoma with Kent Dorsey officiating.
