All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Craig, Thomas, Clem, Jones, Baker Carl Gradon Craig was born at St. Paul, Arkansas on February 23, 1904 to Lenord Custer Craig and Elizabeth Thomas Craig. He passed from this lfie Wednesday, march 4, 1998, at the Clinton Regional Hospital, Clinton, OK. Mr. Craig had reached the age of 94 years. Carl spent the first thirteen years of his lfie at S. Paul, where he attended Cobb School. In 1917, the Craig family moved from Arkansas to near Trail, Oklahoma in a covered wagon. Carl began attending the Trail school and attended through part of his junior years of high school. The then traveled between Colorado and California until 1927, when he returned to the Trail Community. On March 14, 1929 Carl was united in marriage to Bessie May Clem at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. To this most happy union four children came to bless thier home: Helen Lorene, Tracy Leo, Arthur Lenor and Bob Carl. Carl and Bessie began their farming and ranching operation after their marriage and continued to make their living at this occupation. In March 1957, Carl and Bessie assumed the responsibilty of raising their 9 month old granddaughter, Betty Ruth Craig. In his fre time, Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good game of dominoes in the company of his many friends. Carl had been a member of the Trail school Baord, and the American Quarter Horse Association. At age 44 Carl acdepted Chirst as his Savior, was bpatized, and became a member of the Leedey First Baptist Church. He has remained a faithful member of his church through the years. Mr. Craig was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bessie in 1964; daughter, Helena and son, Tracy; two sisters, Helen and Ada Sue Criag; four brothers, Lee, Orvil, John, and Charlie Craig; one grandson, Bob Carl Craig, Jr.; and two nephews, Duroc Skelton and Teddy Craig. Those surviving to honoe this memory include two sons, Arthur and Bob; two sisters, Billy Ruth Jones of Leedey and Alice Baker of Hemet, CA; three brothers, Dave Craig of clifton, Colorado, Jack and Jamie Craig of Leedey; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, fourteen nieces and ten nephews,; other relatives and numberous friends. Services were Satuday, March 7, 1998 at 2 :00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Leedey, OK with the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Leedey officiating.
