Cross were conducted at the Methodist church in Cheyenne on Wednesday of this week with Rev. Ray MInard, pastor of the Purcell Methodist church and Rev. Richard Cook, Baptist pastor of Cheyenne in charge of the services. Burial was in the cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home of this city. Death came to Mr. Cross at his home in Elk City after an illness of several years, the past few weeks of which have been critical. Immediate survivors include his wife, Eva Cross, Elk City, and two sons, Charles Henry Cross, Sayre, Oklahoma and James Dean cross, Elk City, one grandson, Ronnie Cross, Sayre, Oklahoma, his mother, Mrs. Nannie Cross and two brothers, Dean V. cross and Lance Cross all of Cheyenne. Charles Henry Cross was born July 13, 1889 at Fort Worth, Texas and died at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma August 15, 1950. He came to Cheyenne in 1895 and resided in this county until 1948 when he moved to Elk City. He spent several years as bookkeeping for Herring and Young in Strong City. Later he engaged in the mercantile business in Cheyenne in which business he continued for a number of years, retiring because of ill health. Later he engaged in the insurance business. He had been a member of the Methodist Church of Cheyenne for a number of years. Until his health failed him Charlie Cross was one of the most active business men of Cheyenne promoting the pregress of the town.
