John R. grew up and attended school in Hammon. He had the distinguished honor of representing his school in the first Boys State Convention held in Stillwater in 1939. He graduated from Hammon High School in 1940. John R. married Mildred Rhea Rusk in 1943. From 1943 to 1946 he served his country as a navigator in the Army Air Force. In 1947, he graduated frfom OCU with a degree in Business and Accounting and began FBI training. He served as a special agent from 1947-1959. John R. was active in the Elks Lodge and served in many offices local and statewide. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, one son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and one son-in-law, eight grandchildren. He was buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
