Funeral services were Thursday, September 12, 1968 at 3 p.m. in the Anderson Clayton Funeral Chapel of Forney, Texas. Rev. Jimmy Sathall and Rev. Robert Chenault officfiated. Mr. Curtis' boyd will be returned to Elk City Friday, Septembetr 13, 1968 to lie in state in the Martin Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Curtis lived in Frederick, Stigler, and Winnsboro, Texas before moving to Forney, Texas, where he was editor of the Forney Messenger News. He was a member of the Markout Baptist Church in Forney. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include 2 sons, Gene, Tulsa and Jim, Sulphur Springs, Texas; 1 sister, Mrs. A.M. Easterwood, Lindsay; 3 brothers, Ray, Hammon, C.D., Abilene, Texas and James, Port Angeles, Washington. Martin Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
