Courtney, 74 years of age, passed away at his home 9 l/2 miles west of Sayre, Friday night, September 20, 1935, after a five day illness. Funeral services were held at the Belmont Baptist church, Sunday afternoon with Rev. Bob Allison officiating, assisted by Rev. L. B. Alder, and Rev. Thomas. Interment was held at the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Moore Funeral Home in charge. Sayre Sunbeam, Sayre, OK 26-Sep-1935 George David Courtney was born October 7, 1861, in Andrew county, Missouri. He departed this life September 20, 1935. On March 31, 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Rebeka Anna Kerns. He leaves to morn his departure a wife and four children: B.F. Courtney, Sayre; Mrs. Jetty Gaupp, Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Myrtle Addis, Sayre; Mrs. Crystle Neiddinger, St. Joseph, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Alonzo Courtney of Piedmont, Arkansas, and Charley Courtney of Clarksdale, Missouri; one sister, Ella Thornton, Oklahoma City. He also leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his going. He moved to Oklahoma in the year of 1902 from Missouri. He was converted in the Belmont Baptist church, August, 1929. He is gone but not forgotten. Sayre Headlight, Sayre, OK 26-Sep-1935 ========= Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for George Davis Courtney, 75 years old, who died Friday morning. The funeral rites were held at the Belmont Baptist church, with Rev. Bob Allison and Reverend Thompson officiating. Mr. Courtney was born October 17, 1860, in Missouri. He later moved to Oklahoma where he has lived for 33 years. He has been a resident of Sayre since 1908 and is well known throughout Beckham county. He is survived by four children: Mrs. Myrtle Addis, Mrs. Crystal Neidenger, both of St. Louis Missouri; Mrs. Jettie Gauppe of Kansas City, Missouri and B.F. Courtney of Sayre. Other relatives include 16 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Alonzo of El Reno, and Charlie of Missouri; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Thornton of Oklahoma City. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for six years.
