All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Carter, Bodkin, Grey, Bodkin, Hargrove Funeral services for Elsie Irene Carter were held Monday, June 22, 1987 at 10 a.m.. in the Martin Funeral chapel with Rev. Verlin Kelley officiating. Burial followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mrs. Carter was born in Chickalah, Ark., December 12, 1911 and passed away Friday, June 19, 1987 in the Community Hospital following a lengthy illness at the age of 75. In 1933 she moved to Olton, TX, with her mother and three younger brothers. Her father had passed away in 1930. Later in 1933 her sister, Esther and her husband, Edd Carter and Edd's brother, Ewing moved to Olton where Ewing and Elsie were re-acquainted and married on September 21, 1935. Three weeks later they moved to the Hammon area, settling on the H.T. and Zoie Bodkin farm in the Moorewood Community. In 1944 they moved into Hammon where they had lived since. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chickalah, Ark. Survivors include her husband, Ewing, of the Hammon home; one daughter, Wanda June Carter of woodward; one son, Bob Carter, of Hammon; one sister, Esther Carter of Dardanelle, Arlk.; three brothers, Frank Grey of Lubbock, TX., Everett Grey of Welch, TX, Earl Grey of Dardanelle, Ark.; three grandchildren; also seven nieces and nephews and by special friends, Loyla and Reah Gayle Bodkin, Donald and Pat Bodkin and Lorene and Floyd Hargrove.
