W. CROWLEY KILLED IN ACCIDENT Accidentally Shoots Self While Crawling Through Wire Fence On Farm INQUEST HELD ON WEDNESDAY Accident Occured While Rabbit unting Near His Home Wednesday Afternoon Word was received Wednesday afternoon that John W. Crowley who resided three miles north and one mile west of Liberty Center school house was killed from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately went to the scene and conducted an inquest which resulted in a verdict that Mr. Crowley came to his death from a gun shot wound accidently, self-inflicted. Mr. Crowley left his home that afternoon to hunt rabbits, taking with him a single barrelled shot gun. He had killed a rabbit and had thrown it over the fence and evidently had crawled through the fence and was endeavoring to draw the gun through after him when in some manner the gun was discharged, the full contents striking him in the upper portion of his head killing him instantly. His body was found by his son who saw his horse tied about a quarter of a mile from the house. He went to see about his father when he found his dead body. About three years ago Mr. Crowley fell from a windmill tower and broke both wrists which left him crippled in his hands and it is presumed that this handicap caused him to be awkward with his gun in drawing it through the fencing when it was discharged. Mr. Crowley was a very highly respected citizen and leaves to mourn his untimely demise a widow, and several children as well as a host of friends.
