Leona was born April 2, 1916 in Rankin, (Now Reydon), Roger Mills County, Oklahoma to Albert and Dilla May (Farrar) Mills. She was married to Ira Olaf Carroll on November 17, 1935 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. They resided on a farm in Logan County, northeast of Guthrie until August 2001 before moving into the town of Guthrie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira, on October 20, 2005 and had almost 70 wonderful years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and May Mills, six brothers, William, Charley, Myron, Harold, Evert, and Milo Mills and four sisters, Edna Brinkley, Sophia Williams, Lavera Johnson, and Ethel Johnson and one great grandson, Dakota Carroll. She is survived by her five children, Noreen Clouse and her husband James, of Edmondd, Oklahoma, Gordon Carroll, Kathleen Smedley and her husband Raymond, Evet Carroll and his wife Mariann, and Donald Carroll and his wife Cynthia, all of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Leona is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother, Ray Mills, Gates, Oregon, a host of niece and nephews, extended relatives, many friends and special lifetime friends, Tawanda Edens, Ore City, Texas and Erma and Loren Owens, West Covina, California. Leona reared her family sharing in the country life with lots of love and hard work as a homemaker, wife, mother, gardener, and domestic engineer working along side her farmer husband. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie. She loved to do crafts, crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of the Oklahoma Extension Homemakers, the Camp Russell Farmerettes. She participated for many years in the Logan County Fairs and won many awards for her excellent sewing projects and canning garden vegetables. She was also a volunteer in the farming community caring for the needs of neighbors and was active in school committees. In her retirement years, she was a member of the Wally Byam Airstream's Travel Club, and traveled all over the United States and made many wonderful friends. Services to celebrate Leona's life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 1030 a.m. At First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie aned burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Visitation for family and friends will be held on ______(line skipped) 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie. The family wishes to thank Companion Hospice Staff, Golden Age Nursing Home Staff, and Dr. Ronald Lehgako, Dr. Michael Scherlag and Dr. Jim Dixson for their loving care.
