He was married to Mathilda Albertina Lindberg on June 12, 1898. To this union were born 5 children, one son and four daughters who are: Mrs. T.J. Hebert, Pomona, California; Mrs. Leo K. Anderson, Long Beach, California; Dr. F.G. Carlson, Elk City, Oklahoma and Miss Ann G. Carlson of Schulter, Oklahoma. One died in infancy. He came with his family to America in 1903, coming to Jamestown, New York; remained there until 1910 when he came to Oklahoma and settled near Durham where he lived until his death February 15, 1936 at 12:40 p.m. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at the age of 13 and remasined loyal and true to his church to the end. Funeral services were held at the Durham Methodist Church conducted by the pastor Rev. E.E. Sullens. The body was laid to rest in the Prairie Dell Cemetery by Grubitz & Son Funeral Home in Elk City.
