She died Sunday while a patinet in the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Elk City at the age of 85. As a child, Orpha attended the East Quartermaster, Texmo and Banner grade schools. She lived in the Leedey area most of her life. She left with her parents to take up residence in Moriarty, New Mexico when Orpha was eight years of age but the family returned to Leedey after three months. She entered high school in Leedey and graduated in 1932. On April 30 she married Rector Carlton in Elk City and they lived in Leedey. She was a member of the Liberty Center Baptist Church west of Leedey. Later, when the church became inactive, she attended the First Baptist Church of Leedey. She was an active member of the Haycreek Home Extension Club. Services were held Tuesady at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Leedey, officiated by Don Ross, Pastor. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Leedey. Services were under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey. Orpha was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Mabel Barnard; and her husband, Rector in 1989. She is survived by; one daughter and son-in-law, Juana Kay and Leroy Penry of Leedey; three sisters, Louisa Jones, Lorine Albright, and Edna Banks all of Leedey; one brother and sister-in-law, Ashley and Ruth Barnard of Leedey; one sister-in-law and husband, Merilea and Carl Miller of piedmont; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Walter and Launa Carlton of Oklahoma City; Laverne and Geneva Carlton of Long Beach, California; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
