He was 87. Charles was born in Reydon, Oklahoma and served in the U.S. Army and moved to California in the late 1940's. He lived in Jacksonville in the early 1950s and Groverland in the early 1960s. While living in Tuolumne County he worked for Merrihew's Auto Parts in Sonora and owned the Red and White Grocery Food Mart and Iron Door Saloon in Groverland. He moved to Turlock in the mid-1960s, where he worked as a Cadillac-Oldsmobile service manager for more than 40 years. He was president of the Turlock Horseman's Club and later became an honorary member. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, cmaping, playing cards and traveling with the Horsemen's Club and family. Charles is survived by his wife, Carol Cline of Turlock, CA; children and their husband, Kathy and Glen Elmore of Sonora, CA, Denise Bengard of Twine Harte, CA and Janette and Richard Domingos of King City CA;stepchildren and their spouses, Cindy dn Sam Postma and Wayne Fleming, all of Hilmar, CA, John and Pam Fleming of Salinda, CA, Mary-Jo and Steve Higgins of Minnesota, Betty-Jo and Tony Nascimento, and Kimmy-Jol Rochester, all of Turlock, CA, and James and Kalisa Rochester of Atwater, CA; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
