"Jim" Conner was born October 24, 1928 in Leedey, Oklahoma to Linda Mae Allen and Robert "Pete" Mixon Conner. He passed away December 12, 2006 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 18 days. Jim grew up in Leedey and Three Corner communities and attended school at Three Corner. At the age of 17 he enlisted in United States Air Force and served for 3 years. After his discharge from the Air Force he enlisted in the United States Army and served for 4 years. During his time of service in the military he served in occupied Japan and Korea. After his discharge in 1954 Jim became a truck driver and drove cross-country working for many companies throughout the United States. In 1975 Jim moved to Cheyenne where he continued to make his home until July of 2006 when ill health forced him to move to the Clinton Veterans Center. Jim enjoyed going to the round table and drinking coffe with his buddies but his true love in life was his family that meant so much to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Lyle, Robert and Frank Conner. He is survived by 3 sisters, Evelyn Tomberlin, of Albuquerque, NM, Lazetta Walsh and husband Bill, of Albuquerque, NM and Joyce Barton and husband Bob, of Crawford, OK; 2 brothersw, Vernon Conner, of Laguna Hills, CA and Roy Conner ans wife, Jean, of Albuquerque, NM and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held December 15, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Ray Smart under direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
