He was the eldest son of Ross and Viola Conrad. His father Ross was the Town Judge and his mother, Viola a tireless worker and postmistress. He grew up in the Great Depression and always did what he could to help the family, including working in the hot Oklahoma sun, pitching hay bales and doing odd jobs. Charles had a love of flying at an early age and he earned his pilots license. During WWII, Charles enlisted in the Air Force, becomping a corporal, and was stationed just outside the San Francisco Bay area. After the war, Charles attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he worked on his Engineering Degree and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. It was during this time Charles met his soon to be wife, June, on a blind date. They were married in March of 1954, and settled in Tulsa. Charles went on to finish his engineering degree at the University of Tulsa, while working for Tulsa Industries title. In March of 1959, his only child, a daughter, Kristi, was born. Not only did Charles have a love for flying and tinkering with cars and anything mechanical, he had a love for drafting. He was involved in several maintenance building around the Tulsa area. He often dreamed of becoming an architect and industrial engineering and later computers, would land him in a position at the Tulsa Amerrican Airlines maintenance base in 1960. Charles became an industrial engineer and later manager at the Airline. He retired in 1993, after 33 years. Charles was also involved with The Tulsa Spotlight Theatre for nearly 30 years. He served two terms as President of the Theatre and as an active member of the board of directors for many years. He was also a tireless community volunteer, an old fashioned gentleman and, the best neighbor you could ever have. He will be remembered for his kindness, and his loving smile Charles is survived by his daughter, Kristi Stewart; son in law, Mark Stewart; granddaughter, Brenda Stewart; younger brother, Ross Conrad, Jr.; sister in law, Mary Ann Conrad; sister in law, Lorene Poe; sister in law, Judy Morrison and brother in law, Robert A. Morrison. Memorial services were held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Boston Avenue Methodist Church in the Rose Chapel.
