G.C. Funeral services were conducted in the Baptist Church of this city, Friday, December 19, 1920 by Rev. W.W. Trent, over the remains of Rev. G.C. Conway. In the days that Rev. Conway was a resident of Roger Mills County he made a host of lasting friends among the people. Below we print an obituary written by C. Bowles. "The heading, 'Rev. G.C. Conway Dead' stated untruth in this cause but it is a common way of expressing the passing of our loved ones out of this world. On last Thursday evening at six o'clock brother and father G.C. Conway passed from a state of suffering into the peaceful rest of the house of the soul. For some days he felt that this old tree of seventy years was beinding low toward the earth and that soon it must fall from whence it came. 'As a tree falls so must it, must die.' It can be truly said that in the passing of this man from the walks of men that indeed a great man has fallen in Israel. He like John was one of the meekest and the most humble of God's family-- unassuming-- desiring not to make a show in the flesh yet he was one of the greatest. He did not seek the high places in life but was content like his master said, 'As I have been sent into this world even so I send you.' Jesus went about doing good so this good man emulates his Lord. To him came the greatest and highest calling given, which is to preach the gospel of the glorius Savior forever, twenty five years this good man gave to the world the story of his loving Saviour. While he many not live in books, and he may not have gone from what we call this greatest pulpits, yet Jesus said 'As often as you do this unto one of my little ones, you do unto me.' In hundredds of lives today this a reality to the sweet memory of this gentle spirit. The coronation of this great man was not at the grave as many are but he awaits that day when his heart and soul will be hold the King in his beauty, where angels are in heaven shining with splendor -- crowns and rewards given to all who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever, out from the clouds of manifold trials and the sleep is the grave lead intoi the spacious soverignty of glory, -praise and honor. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons and daughters, several grandchildren. His children were even kind to his wants and wishes until at last they laid him to rest at Cheyenne. Rev. Trent of Hammon preached his funeral." CARD OF THANKS - We wish to extend our sincere thanks to those who gave their aid and sympathy in the death of our dear father. Mr. and Mr. J.T. Kendall and Mrs. Frank Conway.
