"Dave" Cooprider was born July 3, 1916 in Peek, Oklahoma to Eleanor and John William Cooprider. He passed away October 22, 2007 at Weatherford, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 29 days. Dave grew up in Peek and attended Lone Bell Schools. He began working for the Civilian Conservation Corps and his camp built the Boiling Springs State Park. He was married to Lela Berneta (Daugherty) at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on November 23, 1938. They made their home in the Dempsey community where Dave farmed. He also was the sexton and caretaker for the Dempsey Cemetery for over 40 years. Dave enjoyed attending his CCC reunions and rodeo's. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lela, of the home; 1 Son, Leon Cooprider and his wife, Peggy, Sayre, Oklahoma; 3 Sisters, Alice Spencer, Chico, California, Billie McDowell, Woodward, Oklahoma, Lucille Townsend, San Diego, California; 3 Grandchildren, Ronnie Cooprider and wife, Charla, Sayre, Oklahoma, Gayla Gillie and husband, Willard, Sayre, Oklahoma, Sandy Winn and husband, Todd, Sayre, Oklahoma; 6 Great grandchildren, Darla Wesley, Monica, Gabe, Kristin, Skyler, great-great grandchildren, Cooper, Casen, and Hadley, and a host of relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, October 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Chapel officiated by Matt Richardson. Burial was at Dempsey Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services.
