Cotton, 76-year-old Sayre resident and pioneer western Oklahoma merchant, died suddenly at his home Sunday following a heart attack, according to wok received here. Funeral services were to be held at 2o'clock this afternoon at the First Methodist Church of Sayre. Burial was to be in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery. Mr. Cotton was born on September 23, 1860 in Searcy county, Arkansas, and came to this section in January of 1907, first settling in the Cotton Store community northwest of Sayre. He was 77 years of age. He was married to Miss Martha Ann Asbill on September 18, 1896. He was a Mason and a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, and the following children: E.F. Asbill, Hammon; Edwin A. Cotton, Coffeyville, Kansas, Olus Cotton, T.R. Cotton and Mrs. Viola Benton, all of Grimes; Van B. Cotton, Oklahoma City; Ernest Cotton, Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. Genevive Wellman, Sayre.
