Cross, 61, a retired Roger Mills county rural mail carrier who died at his home in Elk City Tuesday February 18, 1941 were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Crawford school. Rev. Henry Hughes of Gage assisted by Joe S. Strouther; pastor of the Elk City Methodist church officiated. Burial was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Cross was a pioneer of Roger Mills County having moved to that section of the state in 1901. For many years he was a rural mail carrier and was forced to retire last summer because of ill health. He was born November 26, 1879 at Barracksville, W.V. Survivors include his widow, and one son, Charles, Jr. of the home address; his mother, Mrs. Flora A. Cross, Oklahoma City; four brothers, D.W. Cross, Oklahoma City, Frank D. Cross, San Antonio, Texas, Howard Cross of Hartford, Ark., and Ernest E. Cross, Yukon; four sisters, Mrs. Flora Cross, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Stella Eeds of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mrs. Iva Prewett of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Bessie McClintick of San Antonio.
