All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Davis, Shugart Farry Davis was born December 17, 1901 in Woods, Washita County, Oklahoma to Julia A. and Jess L. Shugart and passed away January 4, 1995 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 93 years and 17 days. Farry was born as the family was on their way from Texas to homestead in Roger Mills County. She grew up in the Roll-Crawford community, graduating from the eighth grade at the one-room Shugart School located on the corner of the Shugart farm. Farry married Virgil Loyd Davis on March 1, 1922 in Crawford, Oklahoma. They had small grocery stores and farmed in the Crawford community for several years, and later moved to Roll where they owned and operated the Davis General Store for 17 years. They also owned land and ran cattle in the community. In 1959 they moved to Cheyenne to make their home. Following Virgil's death in 1962, Farry worked for several years for her son-in-law, Eddie Lee McDaniel, in the McDaniel Grocery and later in the McDaniel Variety Store. She was a long time member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church and a past-president of her Sunday School Class. She had also been a member of the Easter Star Lodge and the Roll Home Demostration Club and Quilting Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter (Virgie Mae), 1 infant son, 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by 2 daughters, Clesta McDaniel, Etta Fae Garling and her husband, Richard, both of Cheyenne, 3 grandchildren, Sharon Kay Youngblood and John L. McDaniel both of Cheyenne, Jim V.
