All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Dobson, Erickson, Moorman, Holloway Ruby, first born child of John and Maude Erickson, was born in a dugout in Woods County, near Alva, Oklahoma on January 22, 1909. She graduated from Blackwell High School and later received an Associates' degree in business form Kansas Business College. After college, Ruby worked as an accountant of Kress' Department Store in Blackwell, Oklahoma until her marriage to Everett Ray "Doc" Dobson on October 17, 1932. Mrs. Dobson was one the othe first female pioneers in the telecommunications industry cofounding Dobson Telephone Company with her husband, Everett, in 1936. Ruby worked for Dobson Telephone Company as Controller and Chief Financial Officer until her retirement in 1979. She served as a member of the Board of Directors until 1985. Ruby and her husband, Everett, were inducted into the Oklahoma Telephone Hall of Fame for their leadership roles in rural telephone in Oklahoma. Even while working full-time for 43 years in an industry she loved, Ruby always found time to be a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ruby was a member of the First Methodist in Perkins and a member of the Pioneer Telephone Association. Survivors include one son, Russell L. Dobson and wife, Willene, Edmond, one daughter, Patricia Mooreman and husband, Donald, Durham, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Melisa Holloway, Cheyenne, Craig Mooreman, Leedey; Anita Moorman, Oklahoma City; Everett Dobson, Edmond, Robbin Dobson, Edmond, Stephen Dobson, Elk City and six great grandhildren. Services for Ruby Mae Dobson, 85, Perkins resident and cofounder of Dobson Telephone Company were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 1995 in the First Methodist Church in Perkins with the Rev. Susan Ross Officiating. Interment, under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home was in the Perkins Cemetery. She died Wednesday, October 18, 1995, at the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, OK.
