Laverne was born on May 24, 1931 in Quanah, Texas to Delmer Doyle Davis and Jimmie Dell Carver Davis. She married L.D. Devoll on January 7, 1955. He preceded her in death in August 1988. She has been a resident of Pampa all of her married life. Survivors include on daughter, Rita Hughes and husband Ray of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Darrell Crafton of Pampa; two sisters, Wanda Betchan and Linda Gee and husband Marlin, all of Pampa one brother, J.C. Davis of Pampa; four grandchildren, Jeannine Malone, Amy Davis, Brandon Hughes and LaDona Johnson. Seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Malone, Avery Maolne, Darcy Davis; Brance Huhghes, Marlena Johnson, Kolton Good and Korbyn Johnson. She was also preeceded in death by her precious daughter, JoAnn Crafton in December of 2004 and twin infant daughters. Services were held at 2PM on Friday, August 5, 2005 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rebv. Lynn Hancock, pastor of thew Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiatting. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Pampa, Texas under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association, 5926 Balcones Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
